Overhaul of Leadership at Sriwijaya FC to Salvage Club from Relegation

Palembang – The Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders (EGM) facilitated by the Acting Governor of South Sumatra, Agus Fatoni, through the Head of the South Sumatra Youth and Sports Office, H Rudi Irawan SSos MSi, on Wednesday (1/24/2024), brought significant changes to the leadership of Sriwijaya FC (SFC). In addition to appointing Ir H Bakti Setiawan SSos MM as the President of SFC, also known as the President Director of PT Sriwijaya Optimis Mandiri (SOM), the club’s management also underwent a major reshuffle.

The EGM, attended by former President of SFC, H Hendri Zainuddin, who resigned over a year ago, discussed the accountability of PT SOM’s directors for the year 2023. The EGM then delved into the change of leadership at PT SOM.

“So, there is an addition of a Commissioner, namely the President Director of PT Pupuk Sriwidjaja (Pusri) Palembang, Daconi Khotob, as a Commissioner of PT SOM,” said the Chief Commissioner of PT SOM, H Asfan Fikri Sanap.

The Chief Commissioner further explained, “Then there is an addition of a Commissioner, which is myself. There is also an addition of a Commissioner, namely the President Director of Pusri, Mr. Daconi.”

Additionally, the position of President Director was replaced from H Hendri Zainuddin to H Bakti Setiawan. There were also changes in other key positions, such as Sholahuddin as Director of Competition, and H Abraham Busro as Director of Marketing.

“As for the others, Mr. Indrayadi remains as the Technical Director, and Mr. Lutfi Zein remains as the Finance Director,” stated Asfan, the former President Director of Bank Sumsel Babel.

Asfan, who previously held the position of President Director at PT SOM, also mentioned that the majority of the shares of the club’s management have returned to him. “Shares, because Mr. Hendri has resigned, the shares are handed over to me again. So, the majority shareholder is me and the South Sumatra Football Foundation, if I’m not mistaken,” he added.

Thanks to the swift action of Acting Governor Agus Fatoni, Sriwijaya FC has now regained its President, also known as the Managing Director of PT Sriwijaya Optimis Mandiri, and a revamped management team.

Through the South Sumatra Youth and Sports Office facilitated by H Rudi Irawan SSos MSi, discussions about the shareholders of PT Sriwijaya Optimis Mandiri and the management of Sriwijaya FC took place in the meeting room of the South Sumatra Youth and Sports Office on Wednesday morning. In the afternoon, an Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders (EGM) was immediately held.

“Pak Pj Governor’s message expresses gratitude for the holding of this EGM and congratulates the new management of PT SOM. The Governor hopes that there can be an acceleration of improvement in the management and governance of PT SOM. Our current mission is to save Sriwijaya FC from relegation,” said H Rudi Irawan SSos MSi.

Following the directive from the Acting Governor, the South Sumatra Youth and Sports Office facilitated a meeting between the management, commissioners, and shareholders. The meeting successfully reached an agreement, with H Hendri Zainuddin resigning from the position of SFC President, which he had held for one year and five months.

“Our agreement this morning is, firstly, the transfer of PT SOM shares from Mr. HZ to Mr. AFS. Secondly, the EGM is accelerated immediately in the afternoon. For the smoothness of this, the Youth and Sports Office, under the guidance of the Acting Governor, facilitated this EGM. The EGM, which lasted about 3 hours, has resolved the management issues,” explained Rudi.

Chief Commissioner of PT SOM, H Asfan Fikri Sanap, expressed his gratitude to Acting Governor Agus Fatoni and the Head of the Youth and Sports Office, H Rudi Irawan, for facilitating the preparation meeting for the EGM and continued with the EGM in the afternoon.

“Yes, we express our gratitude to Acting Governor and Head of Youth and Sports Office,” said Asfan.

The former President Director of Bank Sumsel Babel confirmed that during the EGM, Ir H Bakti Setiawan was appointed as the President Director of PT SOM, replacing H Hendri Zainuddin.

Furthermore, South Sumatra coal entrepreneur, H Abraham Busro, was appointed as the Marketing Director of PT SOM, replacing H Hendriansyah ST MSi, who currently holds the position of SFC Team Manager.

Those present at the meeting included former shareholder H Hendri Zainuddin, former Marketing Director H Hendriansyah, Technical Director Indrayadi, and Company Secretary Faisal Mursyid SH. However, Ir H Bakti Setiawan was reported to be absent due to health reasons after returning from performing the Umrah pilgrimage.

Rudi invited shareholders to unite their vision to save Sriwijaya FC from relegation. “Let’s leave our personal interests and others aside for now. Let’s align our vision first, because we are now in the play-off round, and we must not be relegated to Liga 3. Let’s set our vision first, leave our personal interests, and the rest,” Rudi emphasized.

He also conveyed the second goal: to select and appoint a new PT SOM management that is truly concerned and passionate about football to advance SFC. “After this meeting, let PT SOM hold a General Meeting of Shareholders to form a new management that is truly concerned and loves football to advance SFC,” he stated.

Rudi explained that his role, as directed by Acting Governor Dr. Agus Fatoni, was to facilitate this meeting. He stated that this issue should have been resolved by the management, commissioners, and directors of PT SOM themselves within a year, but there had been no progress.

“Because there has been no progress in a year, it is now facilitated by the government, under the guidance of Acting Governor, to quickly resolve the problems in the management of PT SOM, based on input from the community, especially the three supporters’ groups,” said Rudi, who had previously been the CEO of Persimura.

The name of H Abraham Busro, a South Sumatra coal entrepreneur based in Jakarta, was also highlighted in this news. He was recently mentioned as providing a victory bonus to the Sriwijaya FC team for their 2-0 win against Sada Sumut FC in the opening match. Abraham Busro, affectionately known as Pak Abe, has been introduced as a sponsor of Sriwijaya FC.

Abraham Busro is known as the Chairman of the B’Brothers Bintaro Moge Community and a national champion motorcycle racer in the Euro 2000 Novice ETCC class in 2017. He is also the owner and founder of NRBtv, named after his son Naufal Rafif Busro, a national champion car racer in the ITCR 1200 class and the 2022 national Drifting champion.
